FAQs

What is pounamu?

Pounamu is New Zealand greenstone — a treasured stone found on the West Coast, carved and worn for generations. It carries history, meaning and mana (spiritual power and prestige).

Are your pounamu genuine?

Yes! Every piece is legally sourced and authenticated through the Ngāi Tahu Pounamu Authentication Scheme.

Is each piece really one-of-a-kind?

Yes. Every piece is hand-carved and hand-bound, so no two are ever exactly the same. What you receive is shaped by hand, start to finish in our workshop.

How do I care for my pounamu?

Keep it simple — avoid harsh chemicals, don't let it drop on hard surfaces, and give it an occasional wipe with a soft cloth. Read our full care guide here.

What's the difference between the carvings/shapes?

Each carving carries its own meaning. Toki represents strength and mastery. Manawa speaks to the heart and health. Koru reflects new life and new beginnings. Learn more about stone meanings here.

How long will delivery take?

Once orders are received, processing can take 24-48 hours. Please allow 3-5 business days for NZ-wide shipping and 5-8 business days for international orders.

Do you take custom design orders?

We currently don't take personalised orders, but you can create your own design and carve it yourself at our workshop. Learn more here.
